Weird turn signal issue.....
Wednesday, May 18, 2005 5:22 PM
This has happened to me on a few different mornings. I have them wired up for the Toyota tails, and once in a while I go to flip on the turn signal, and NOTHING happens. I turn on the hazards, and everything works again. Weird.

This has happened maybe once a week, and only in the mornings on the way to work, after that I've had no issues.

That happened to me yesterday after wiring up leds in the front, and today the passenger blinker wouldn't work at all, my rear bulb was busted. You might try checking all of the sockets and bulbs to make sure they are good.

yep extremefire is right one bulb that's not working in the circuit will do weird thing like :

-Your flasher will light up but won't flash
or
-It will flash faster than normal

It's none of the above, I promise, first thing I did was check every bulb, each low/high filament lights up just as it's supposed to.

The wife drives the car more than I do, I'll see if our car has done the not want to flash until you use the hazards thing anymore. The one thing we have in common is that we both messed with our lighting system. Maybe one of us will figure it out.

I don't know why, but when that happened to me, the first thing I did was try the hazard lights.

Me too, and when it worked I was like WTF. It works each time, so hell, who knows?

How is your system modified exactly? I tapped into each front turn signal flashing signal wire, ran each side to the back, and my brake light solid power ran from the extra 3rd brake light leads for my Toyos.

All my work was up front, I cut off all four light sockets up front (2 front flasher, 2 side markers) and tapped into each of the turn light wires (light blue I think) for the front flashers, and used the parking light wire (brown) from the drivers side, of course taping up any wires I didn't use.

Have you noticed if its both left and right turn or just one direction?? Perhaps its a matter or load front or rear. It would be odd for that but its possible. You are not using the rear flasher circuit anymore, and I am using the front but its only to switch a relay so there isn't near the load on the system that there was. Hmmm. Thats a commonality, but don't know if it matters.

In addition, though this is just my problem. Right now my turn signals flash fast because my control module for the lights doesn't have enough of a load on the system, need to figure out a resistor to put in there. But when I turn on the hazards they flash properly.

Yes my buddy has LED's and the super fast blinker, I love it, only because the LED's have such a lower resistance than your standard bulb. I sent him to this site, check it out for yourself.

Neither side works until I throw on the hazards. The load thing should be just as you said, pretty much equal, as I put double the load on the front, but removed load from the rear.

Thanks for the link, with where I work though I think I'll try to make something up first but I'll keep that as backup just in case.
