I'm just wondering if i need to buy a new one, i'm doing a minor rebuild on my 2.4L engine, i'm putting new bearings, seals, and rings. has anyone heard of a oil pump failing or wearing out? How much are they at auto zone or napa?

Yeah, I would replace it. Just check autozone's website for the price.

If you are rebuilding the engine with new parts, then go ahead and put a new oil pump in there. Just some insurance to make sure those new parts and the rebuild last a long time.
