HELP! MY BLOWER ONLY WORKS IN MIDDLE SETTINGS?
Saturday, May 21, 2005 3:31 AM
My Blower switch has 4 settings from low to high. When I use the first or last setting(low and high) I just get a low rumbling sound. In the the 2 middle settings, it works just fine. I recently took my van in to have them figure out the problem. The shop told me it was a bad resistor. But as I searched the other postings about resistor problems, it seems everyone's Resistor problems only had to do with their low setting not working and their high setting still worked fine! So what about when you have 4 settings and the low AND high DON"T work, but the middle 2 work just fine? Could that still be caused by a bad Resistor? Someone I talked to at another shop told me it might be a bad Switch. I need some fast expert advice! Plus, I'd like to know if there would there be any harm in just using the AC as is and NOT getting a part like the switch or the resistor replaced right now? Thanks so much!

it could be possible it's the reisitor again. I'm not 100% but when the contacts burn they can burn in any way they want. I would maybe pull the resistor first and inspectit for burn marks as it's just $30 Cdn to replace. The switch might be more expensive or a repair. I have personally never had a switch go bad or have i read of one going bad.

could stil be a resistor. the resistor has two circut paths. you probably just burnt out the opposite one most people do.
