my sister's built is squeeking horribly ... and it's to the point the faster her engine is the louder it gets, so we need to replace it.
What's the procedure? is there some kind of tentioner I need to loosen to get the belt off?

Might have helped if you told us what engine you have...
If you look down at all the pulleys, one of them is going to have a "square" in the casting for it, just like the square you would see on the back of a socket. Take a 3/8" ratchet, put the square end of it into that hole and then push down towards the ground on the handle of the ratchet. That'll take the tension off the belt so you can replace it.
