A mechanic friend I was looking at my AC and pointed out my sweating Accumulator and told me that if I wrap my Accumulator and the metal lines and parts that extend from it in Neoprene(wetsuit material),fastened by wire, that it would help my compressor to not have to work so hard and improve the performance of my AC. But when I went to a couple of part stores I got strange looks when I asked for this. I think this method may be unconventional. One guy was quick to discourage it by saying Neoprene burns at low temperatures, which would cause problems under a hood. Have any of you ever heard of this or tried this and know if this is good or bad advice? Have you ever seen Neoprene pieces sold for exactly this purpose or would I have to make it myself? Thanks for your help!
im some ways it will work , but the system has to be able to shed the heat that it creats also
the newer fullsize trucks have the accumulator covered in a foam rubber , because they need alot of help cooling off the larger interiors in them
i have heard of people doing it , but ive never seen or heard of any differences in the temp droping
