Ok I got a really bad rotten egg smell last week. as soon as you got out of the car you could smell it. that day i switched to a better gas station and since then it doesnt smell as bad. in order to smell it you have to get really close to the muffler while it is running. but it still does smell a little like rotten eggs.
I am having a problem figuring out whether it's my cat. or just bad gas. My car is driving normal and I am getting about 30 mpg on the highway. but it has been a week and the smell is still slightly there. I need to know what you guys think because I am planning on taking a long car ride this week and I don't want to break down.
Thanks
It may just be the gas you were using. If you had a bad cat, your car would more than likely be running like crap and you would also be having CEL's pop up.

If you wouldn't buy the breakfast burritos at Shell, you wouldn't have this problem. Did you switch to Mobil? I heard they have better breakfast burritos than Shell.

its the cat. thats what it smells like when it starts to go
I say it's the cat. I doubt that it will throw the CEL right away. When it's going there should be no CEL, but when it's dead the CEL should light up.
