I've been hearing a knock coming from my front end for about a week now and trying to figure out what it was... I had just lowered my car a couple months ago so I'm thinking maybe the strut mount went bad, or maybe even something came loose. So finally got a chance to take a look at it, and my worst nightmare was confirmed.
This sucks because jobs that are mostly labor like this I always do myself, but I live in an apt complex and even though I'm moving in a month or two, it's 1200 miles to the new house with a garage. My only idea is maybe just replacing the boot to see if what's left of that joint will last until I get to the new place. Any ideas?
Clean it out as best you can and duct tape it...

try to tape it then replace the boot or shaft in the future......if you do tape it please take the brake caliper off and flip it around.....notice that your brake hose is twisted.....it should not look like that....may cause braking issues in the future....by lookin at it you should flip it counterclockwise about once.....
Yeah I was looking at that too... kinda feel like an idiot now lol
Seeing as how there aren't many repair guides out for the ecotecs yet, has anybody else had to change one out yet? Any idea if it would be the same as the older cars? Seems to me like the only thing that could be different would be transmission side.
^^ Nope, its jsut your car... P.O.S...
Just playin, I had to.
