I've got this sound coming from what I think is my passenger wheel well. It happens when the transmission isn't in gear and doesn't follow engine speed, but car speed. It's two taps in quick succession ... like "tap-tap ... tap-tap .... tap-tap", and speeds up and slows down with the car. It's not a metalic tap, but a soft tap.

Any ideas?

It could just be rocks in your tires..
Thats happened to me and after awhile they usually fall out.
