i have a 97 z24..and sometimes when i shift i get this "pop"..as in when i shift it pops out of gear instead of just coming out,,,does anybody know what im talking about?

As in a seemingly violent disengagement, almost making you think that something vital to the shifting process snapped?

Mine does it from 2nd to 3rd shifting around 3000 rpm. The only way that I know of to solve that is to shift sooner, at about 2500 rpm.

Gots me a 97 Sunfire SE... hmm... think 97 might not have been such a good year?

somewhat,,it doesn't do it all the time..sometimes i drive it hard and it does it..sometimes no..sometimes i'm just cruising and i shift and it does it...i'm gonna stop worrying about it ..because i don't think it's anything too bad

If you guys are auto you might want to change your tranny filter. Maybe that can help.

5 spd in mine... guessing 5 spd in the original poster's car.
