Transmission rubbing/grinding coming from D to P

Hey guys I have a 2004 Sunfire w/ 26000 miles and a automatic tranny.

Every so often when I put it in park from drive/reverse the transmission( I'm assuming) will rub to like a little pattern like rub.rub< pause >rub.rub and it repeats till I put it in drive and then back in park. It can't be heard from the engine bay or outside, but inside its a very low rubbing sound, and with my foot on the brack I can feel it plain as day. Anyone have a idea what this might be?

Try a transmission additive. For the life of me I can't remember the name of the stuff I used, but if you go to your local auto-parts store they could recommend something for you. It's basically a really really thick glue-like substance that you put into your transmission.

If I am thinking about your problem correctly then that might do the trick. If not then your tranny may just need to be replaced.

Take it to the dealer before the warranty runs out, get it documented before so if there is a problem at 33,000 miles, you have proof it started before the warranty ran out.
