i searched and really didn't find anything, but my problem is i bought my car last september and it didn't seems like i needed A/C now it's june and really hot and the car is black and i am thinking i need A/C now lol. i was just wondering if someone could help me out with a list of parts i would need to make my 98 2.2 cav have A/C. it never had A/C so the button on the HVAC panel isn't there. Again all i really want is a list to what i need and how hard it would be for me to put it in. thanks ahead of time

Think its impossible.
For one parts of the underhood wiring hanress are different. Secondly like you said the panel switch is different, plus I dont know how you make it so you could get cold air, if the car wasnt set upfor it.
As for the A/C system, lets see every parts, lines, dryer, compressor, condensor etc. Also I dont know how you would hook up an A/C compressor to the engine, cause the bolts arent there for it.
So like I said impossible, next time buy a car with A/C.
- 2004 Cavalier - 124k, owned since new
Just find a new car alot easier it would be hell to swap everything over, plus the pipes would have to get connected and the computer would probably have to swapped to get the A/C sensors activated. Not worth the hassle.
my z24 didnt come with AC in it and the person who owned it before me added AC so dont tell him it cant be done
It can be done.. Easiest thing to do is find a wrecked cavy, same year as yours with AC in it, then start swapping stuff over.. It's going to take a lot of time and money, but it can be done..

i dont know if the parts will work for a 2.2 but i just ripped my AC out of my 2.4 so lemme know if ya wanna buy em

that's what i was thinkin... going to scrap yard and getting all of the parts out of a car close to my year, like 98-00.

how much? i need to get my kit and fenders painted soon too... how hard would you say it would be to put all in?
i'm not trying to make it the best A/C ever i just want something to cool down the car alittle so it's not 110 degrees in my car all summer. and as for a new car with a/c not an option at this time, and as for not getting a car with it in the first place i was only 16 and barely was able to afford what i got, now i'm just trying to make it better

You could alway buy an aftermarket AC kit they run around 1g. The kit comes with everything you need except freon.
Personnally I would go to the bone yard and grab these major parts.
Compressor
Condensor
Filter
All lines
Heater control panel
Now if you notice where the wires cam off this stuff all the wiring should already be on your car already. Just bolt the stuff up and plug it in. Go get it charged and your done.

Hit 200 NA it broke once, Hit 213 it broke again,
Hitting 300 NA is further away than I thought.
You'll need to remove the whole dash to install the a/c airbox... and it's a pain to remove and install. You'll have to drain the coolant and the heater core that's already in your car... remove the HVAC unit and controls... switch them... plus the wiring harnesses...
Not going to be easy... then after that, you have to get the refrigerant system charged.
It'll take you a LONG time... and cost a @!#$ load of money.... to put a stock system in there.
An aftermarket one won't be cheap... but it'll be a lot easier to install.. they're designed to be installed after the car was made.
