*Ticking Noise*

My 00 z-24 is making ticking noises. It doesn't do it till you drive it a bit and it warms up, and you can hear it more around the drivers side front tire. Once it starts its a constant tick and it speeds up when you rev the engine. Also, the car started reving really high at idle. This happens all the time when you at idel. It just revs really high. Any ideas on either one would be great thanks!

The tick is probably your lifters. If you don't want to mess with changing out your lifters, then try additives. I strongly suggest the use of "Goop Engine Flush." You put this stuff in your engine when you're about to change your oil. (mixed with the old oil) and run your engine for 5 minutes. Then change your oil as normal.

On a car over 100,000 miles it may need a second treatment. Therefore, this is what I suggest:

-Buy this product (Goop Engine Flush)
-Buy a cheaper brand of oil. (Just plain Valvoline 5w-30 should do fine)
-Apply the treatment and change your oil.
-Run your car for 2000-3000 miles before applying the treatment again.
-Buy another bottle of Goop Engine FLush
-Buy your NORMAL oil this time. (I suggested buying cheaper oil the first time since you were only running 2000-3000 miles and not more like many people like to do)
-Apply the treatment once again and then change your oil.
-With your oil, add about half a bottle of Marvel's Mystery Oil. This stuff has helped my lifter ticks in the past and is also very effective at preventing lifter ticks.

I hope this works out for you. Lifter tick SUCKS! I'm actually working on mine right now....damn j-body lifters anyways.
