Squeaking in Front end

Hey everyone, I have a bone stock 03' cavalier coupe. Its pretty much a base model.

I am new to the forums and was wondering if anyone knew the solution to the problem im having. The car has seemed to develop a squeak (and sometimes a marble sounding rattle) on the right front side of the car when i run over small bumps. When i increase speed over 40mph, i cant really hear the sqeak anymore, but at lower speeds when the car really flexes over bumps, I can hear it. It is very loud.

Before I even consider taking the car in for service I was wondering if anyone had a few ideas of what this could be. I dont want to have a dealearship tear the car down only to tell me they cant find it, or guess and replace parts that dont need replacing.

I have tried to flex all ends of the suspension with the car off and in gear, but I had no luck or recreating the sound. A friend of mine told me that all cavaliers get noisy in the front end but this car only has 25k on it.

I know this is very little info to go by but any suggestions would be better then nothing. Thanks!

I have the same squeak on my 98 Z24. From what I can find out, it is the front sway bar bushings. I have had a service rep tell me that when he owned a Cavalier, he had to replace them twice over the ten year period that he owned the car. I am ordering my bushings and when they come in, I will install them and that should take care of the noise.

98 Z24

RIP Specks

Thanks for the information. I have also heard of this tonight from a few jbody owners in my neighborhood. This is a very stupid problem to have at 25,000 miles. I am a little disapointed. Thanks again.

If you have hubcaps, they all seem to start to squeek over every little bump...try taking them off and going for a drive

I got the car serviced at my dealership. There is a bulliten out for this problem, its a squeak at the top of the tower, due to a retaining cup, or somthing. Anyway, replacement parts were on hand for the defect, and the problem was fixed, now all that squeaks, which was just mentioned, are those pesky hub caps, but I plan to do away with those soon enough.

If anyone has the suspension squeak and creek problem, they should speak to a local dealership about getting the job done. If your under warrantee of course the job will be free, but I think even if you are not you still may get this job done for free with a little pressure because there have been many complaints and cars in the shop for this. The only reason why its not a recall is because it is not a safety hazzard, and it doesnt cause any damage.

Thanks everyone.
