Yet another AC prob(answer not in AC thread above)
Sunday, June 12, 2005 1:40 PM
Ok a week before the 03 Bash, I blew an AC line right near the round metal thing in the rear passenger side of the engine compartment.

Cleaned everything up, reattatched the hose, and recharged the system. Worked fine for a while. Now the AC doesn't work, just blows out luke-warm air at best. The pressure in the system is just where it should be... so I'm assuming there's no leaks.

Any ideas? (Please don't tell me it's something expensive lol)

sounds like a torn scrotum rotator cuff in the girter belt for the inline fuse controled circuit

i have no idea lol

The round thing is the accumulator.
The freon could have leaked out. The best way to find out the problem is to have it checked out by someone with an a/c recovery machine.

You did say the pressure was ok. But that doesn't make much sense. If pressure on high and low sides are ok then the a/c system would work fine. Unless the a/c controls were out. The blend door could be stuck, ect.

could it be the compressor though? I can't think of anything else it could be... and neither can the people I've talked to. If the pressure is ok and the air is not getting cold... ??

does the clutch kick on at all ??

have you check the fuses and the relay ??

if the clutch isnt kicking on its either , no power (electric related) , no power (freon related high pressure switch) , no freon , not enough freon (will still show regular pressure)

I have a similar problem with my pressure being ok but the AC not working at all either. I'm hoping it's not the compressor. How do I tell if the clutch is kicking on or not?

I have checked fuses and relays and everything appears to be ok with them.

pull the relay for the a/c , and look at the diagran on it and jump the 2 leads

1 set shows a coil the other a open circuit with a bridge , just the open with the bridge

the compressor should kick on , and if you dont feel the larger metal line get cold , your out of freon

just cause a gauge shows pressure doenst mean there is enough in the system to make it work

and if you still have problem , take it a tech to have them look at it

if the car was here and i had a machine i could tell you inside of 30 minutes what is wrong with it

Ok thanks for the tips. I made an appointment later this week to have the system drained and refilled. Hopefully that will take care of the problem.
