I have a 98 cav witha rob knocking and about 1000 to put in it. should i get a new engine, or just rebuild the old one. i would like to get more horse then what i had its just a stock 2.2L. i might have a bit more to spend but will depend on if i can get a loan. and if some one is in KY that would like to help me work on it drop me an email. i would like to start on it any time after the 20 june, and look to have it finshed by 1 july. and whats a good site to get new parts or engines. will a 2.2L from a 2004 cav swap with my 98.
An Eco will swap but with alot of work. Search around for info on it.

It is easier to just swap a used engine for the bad one.
I have rebuilt several engines and you must know exactly what you are doing. You must know exactly how to measure clearance, etc. For example you have about 3 sheets of paper or .003 between the main bearings and crank, anything more and the engine will destroy it self.

if i was you... id do a 2.3 or 2.4 swap...just from what iv read it seems a little simpler
