A friend and I picked up a 1998 Sunfire w/2.2 yesterday. This casr has hit on the driver's side but the car is still supposed to run and drive. We were able to get it strated by pouring gas into the intake but of course it only ran for a few seconds (and damn well I might add). At first we thought it might have an inertia switch but they guy my friend got it rom was able to drive it into his garage after the truck dropped it off. The car did sit for a year but it had no fuel and was in a garage the whole time so I don't see how it could be a clogged line.
Any Ideas?

I could be severa things. Condensation in the lines. Crud in the lines that dried up and when u put gas in the tank and the crud fell into the line. If this happened ur fuel injectors could become clogged. Bad fuel pump that is siezed.
Where to start. Check to see if the pump is working and make sure u put in some additive to take any moisture from the system and a cleaner.
Obviously if u put gas in the intake and ran, the electrical system and everything else is fine. It is in the gas to the engine where the problem.
Check to see if the relay switch for the pump is working. Maybe take a switch from another area a replace it to see if it makes a difference.
As far as the injectors, there is no way to really check if there clogged. Maybe if u take the fuel rail off and turn the ignition. Even if u see them spray it might not be enough.
Also changed the fuel filter here u can probably check to see if the pump is working, but watch out for the mess.
If u can do some of this great, if not u are going to have to take it to a mechanic.
