lil over heating issue... need help
Tuesday, June 14, 2005 9:56 PM
yea so the car ( 98 Z 24 ) is fine while i'm driving, temp stays at like 195, thats fine. but when i stop or if i'm stuck in traffic it jumps up to like 210 -220 or so, and when i pull out it sputters and i have like no power what so ever. any ideas?!?! i'm thinking maybe i need a new thermostat?!?! and if i get one.... i wanna get a lower temp one... i think i read something before on here about a 160 degree thermostat.... where and how much can i pick one up for?

thanks guys~!

you do not want the 160 t-stat , you will have alot more problems from it , the computer is designed to run with the 180-185

it will run rich , causing bad milage , and your cat to go out alot faster

the best thing for you to do would be to do the cooling fan override and turn it on in traffic

also the temp going up is normal when your not moving cause there is no air flow accross the radiator
