Well I have read about 15 threads on what sounds like the very same problem I am having with me '96 2.4 without any difinitive answers so I am gonna try and see if anyone has come up with a solution to this problem yet.
Sometimes when I first start my car it seems to sputter a bit when first trying to accelerate. When I am driving down the road it will kind of putt putt like it is missing.
The main thing everyone says is to check for vaccum leaks which I have done many times, in fact I went as far as to replace all my vaccum lines. I have also replaced my plugs with AC Delco Platinums, replaced the coil packs themselves and also the coil pack housing. About the only ignition component left to replace is the control module and I hate just throwing parts at a problem. I took it to a local shop and they couldnt really figure out what was going on other than to tell me its most likely electrical. They didn't seem real thrilled to try and work on it.
I really need some help on this guys. Any ideas or solutions anyone has come up with for this problem would be a great help.
It's all fun and games until you get beat by a Z

Well 96cavituner has the fuel filter been changed? Maybe the throttle body could use a cleaning could, have a carbon build up. Might need to take a look at the fuel injectors too. Hopefully those tips work for ya.
Good Luck
U konw this is really pissing mr off cause me and some other people who have z"s have the same freakin problem cant figure it out but when ido ill make a sticky
You posted the exact same problem that I came on here to post. The exact same thing has been going on with my '91 'Bird and nothing seems to solve the problem. I'm wondering if maybe it's the TCC solenoid but one of the main symptoms of that is stalling, which my car doesn't do... it just sputters on takeoff when the engine is cold.
dude insted of haveing all these post i think it would be better if we had one big thread about this
