I've had a big problem for the past 2 weeks now.
My car will pretty much idle fine, and at WOT will run fine too..
however, it seems while trying to moderately accelerate (without flooring it) my car wants to bog and choke. It eventually picks up and goes, but wow does it ever hesitate.
I have done pretty much everything I can think of to remedy the situation.
At first I thought it was a bad spark plug boot, as the little clip inside had come loose and hung onto a spark plug while pulling it off.
I changed the plug wires, AND put new plugs in. NGK TR-55's. (this did nothing)
Later on I changed my MAP, TPS, IAC, and FPR. (idled nicer, but didn't fix my problem)
So, then it was suggested that I check my fuel pump, and make sure my fuel rail is getting sufficient fuel pressure. I drilled and tapped a fitting and ran a pressure gauge up to my window. It gave me about 40psi at idle and roughly 45psi at WOT. (remember WOT was never a problem, it never hesitated). I purposely tried to get it to bog, and while it was doing so the fuel pressure NEVER changed or jumped/dipped (from what it was while at that throttle setting)
After that I changed my injectors. (maybe they were clogged)
Next thing I did, changed the fuel filter AND put fuel injector cleaner in. Still no results.
At this point I thought it was the knock sensor. Before I had a chance to hook my car up to the Tech2 I just went out and bought it. After a test run we figured that it was NOT the knock sensor as it was only pulling timing up top due to the leaky injector we found.
Fixed the injector, and still no change for the better.
NOW, today I change the F*cking o2 sensor, thinking well if anything maybe its that throwing my computer for a loop. Started it up, ran nice, idled nice, went for a boot and it pulled hard. Then I went for a longer run. After coming back she started hesitating again. (since the tech2 scan I've backfired twice)
I have an AFR gauge hooked up through my o2 sensor, and I know its not 'reliable' but it is telling me what the computer is seeing via the sensor. While it bogs/hesitates it goes into a VERY lean condition. (at least that is what the gauge says)
I understand you can't trust them, but I know how it should be acting and the gauge is NOT doing what it used to do.
So... is it my computer? Is it buggered?
I'm completely stumped, I have no friggin' clue anymore.
sorry for the novel.. please help

oh yes, and i have a 1996 2.2L OHV. 5spd.

Unplug the O2 sensor and the A/F ratio gauge. Run it like that and see.
My A/F ratio gauge gave up on me and it was sending a bit of power to the O2 sensor and it was burning them. Same problem has yours.
I install a new O2 sensor and coming out of the parking, the car started to bog again.

check the EGR valve it could be clogged take it out and clean it
have you checked the fuel pressure ??
and with the o2 disconnected the computer guesses at the amount of fuel it needs , but will help if its a o2 problem , or from your gauge
damn I bet you it'd be the gauge. I think.. well maybe.
I'm going to try to unplug the O2 sensor (but leave it in there I guess hey?)
you dont think that sediment in the tank would somehow cause the lack of fuel?
thanks for all the input, the more the merrier!

also, I did check my fuel pressure.
at WOT its 50psi and at idle its around 40psi (give or take a pound)
I clamped my return line today to see what happened.. to see if it went down below 40psi.
as soon as you clamp it, it spikes to like 72psi then slowly drops down to about 60ish or so.
to me that sounds like normal. I only did it once or twice.
I am going to try the O2 sensor trick right now, and let you guys know!
thanks again

ok so far it seems to be ok, but I still have a bit of a bog, very very slight bog.
do you think that my day old o2 sensor is f*cked up already?

About the same thing happens to me...
2000 Cavi 2200, only engine mod is a WAI.
At idle it sounds peachy, and at WOT we're going as good as a J can go, but if I start to accelerate at a normal rate, my car jsut wont do it... then, if I try to go WOT from the normal rate of acceleration, my car still kinda hesitates...?
I don't know a whole lot of engine related things and terms so perhaps if we could slow it down for me? thanks.
