It could be your fual pump.. but wouldent you feel it driving too?.. since the fuel pump controls the pressure and volume of fuel going to yur injectors, if it was malfuntioning or needs replacing, I'd think you'd be able to tell by how the car feels wouldent you? lol.. i'm not positive..
lol
Maybe you dont have alot of fuel in the tank? That would make it seem alittle louder.Fill the car up and see if it gets quieter.

Think it's time to buy a new car, 1805 years isn't bad but most cars only last 15-20ish.
fuel pump will go out all at once (been there done that). If it goes out, you may only be able to get the car to idle at WOT. Or, it will just not start at all.
I ran my 87 cavy in town, parked at a friends house, came back out and it did not start.
The next day, I was pulling the gas tank to replace the fuel pump. And I had a full tank too.
I wouldn't trust that sounds like i had the same problem you seam to be having. Mine took a bout 3 times at the dealer and finally they got the problem and now it is good. The fuel regulator was bad on mine causing the fuel pump to pull more and put a strain on it. One way to know is if you put up the windows or put a draw on. Mine would go quiet down if i pushed the 2 window buttons. tray that then you might know. but hey i could be wrong.
