Hey there, my gf's 97 sunfire has been acting weird the last few days. here's what happens:
-the engine light is on
-sometimes the temp gauge doesnt work (ie drops down to the position when the ignition is off) it usually does this at a stop, or when arriving to one.
-when accelerating, the auto tranny shifts hard from first to second, and sometimes hard into third (although it is pretty rare)
-it only shifts hard when the temp gauge is innoperable.

i was looking over the car today, and i noticed that the temp gauge dropped down to zero at the exact moment the cooling fan came on... which would explain why the temp gauge drops off when we're stopped all the time... cause that's when the fan comes on.....

any ideas to what the cause is, or a solution??
