Okay so this is my second post on this board (long time watcher, just never actually had a J) and sadly I think it could very well be my last. I bought a 99 RS about a month ago. It is a SALVAGE title... yes yes I know bad move... but I am a college student, FT job with the county jail (tiring) and moving out...basically put: no funds. HOWEVER I am paying 4k for a RS salvage title ( it was bottomed out... only damage is a puncture underneath front passenger seat and it was repaired ) so Day one: test drove it, BF pops hood, looks underneath yada yada yada... all seems fine. we buy it... went to go to the store later that night and there was no go! no shifting in my trans... answer: cracked bellhousing... so i take it back to the dealer... he fixes it in a day (?? could this be true??) and now 28 days later... here in Indiana we have gotten into some serious bad flooded streets.. well someone pushed me into the 'bad lane' (you know the ones that hold all the water?? ) and NO ONE WOULD LET ME BACK OVER!! so I gunned the car and cut someone off. I didn't want to suck water into my engine or exhaust as that was the demise of my BF's 96 sunfire (he subesquently got a04 cavy : ) So I get to going and he starts hearing a hissing noise. Now I've already had a little sputter in my ehaust but once it was checked out it was just the fault of an old resonator (all parts still stock). So now if I floor the gas the gears will get stuck... if I DONT floor it it will shift at the proper shift points (2-3) but it is SOOOO sluggish... we cant tell where the hissing is coming from... and honestly we're to the point where we want to get rid of it. We were going to do an engine swap in Jan to get rid of this bogged down 2.2.. so now we're like okay.... but we've come to a crossroads where do we get the car fixed and pay it off in the next 6 mos and HOPE that nothing else goes wrong or take it back to the guy and make him tear up the contract (it's nice to work for the government and know some things that he ultimately wouldnt want cops to know)
Sorry this is so long and if its in the wrong post, I'm just a confused white girl with broken cavy.... looking for hope and any advice. If you know what this could be (as i have parked it, not started it and will not PAY for a mechanic to look at it since this is more or less the dealers bit) any words are more than appreciated.... thanks guys!!

Beat me to it... lol I beleive in your transmission there is some kind of vacuum shifting control for when you accelerate as per shifting... sorry I have no idea where to tell you to look... hopefully someone will come along soon that has a better idea.....
Ok, So basicly your thinking a Vacum Leak?
It may be slow but my best friend is a sheriff
