Hey,whats up?
To people with a 2.4L,have you ever taken off the air/oil separator box on the block? Is there anything inside of it?Before i sent my block out to get rebuilt,i took the box off the block to clean it and i could of swore there was a little filter of some sort in there. When i got the block back i took it off and there was nothing inside of it.Do any of you guys know?thanks.

No pic.Its the box under the intake manifold.Theres 2 hoses going to it.1 from the timing chain cover and 1 from the air box.Does anyone know?

I'm not sure but I think that it is just like a labrynth. Just a passage with a bunch of twists and bends in it so that way when the air/oil vapors make their way through the passages the oil "sticks" to the sides and then falls back into the crank case. I don't think that there is a filter in there...I could be mistaken though.

If I'm visualizing this correctly, it's one of the parts that gets replaced in the supercharger install, and if that's the case, I don't remember there being any filter in mine either.

I can't see why one would be necessary there anyway, since the oil goes through the regular spin on oil filter (you know, the one you're supposed to change every so often) during circulation.

And since it pulls air from the air box, that's filtered too (supposed to be anyway, you do still have an air filter don't you?).

I'm pretty sure that you're fine.

Sleeper style, they don't see it coming that way.

That would be cool RedDevil if you could check it out for me.I appreciate it.scrawnyguy18,thats pretty much what it is,but i could of swore i saw some sort of filter in there. If i remember correctly it was a little white filter.I may be thinking of something else,i just wanted to make sure.squisher00z24,im not talking about a filter to clean the oil.Im talking about a little filter that just lets the oil vapors come out of the breather.Im getting oil coming out of my breather filter. If i know for a fact that theres nothing inside the separator box,my problem is most likely from the piston rings being worn.

I know exactly what your talking about and allways wondered if there was ever a need to change that box out every so often.

I'm trying to remember when I took a motor apart if there was a filter in there too. I really don't think that there is, I'm almost 100% sure there isn't a filter.

Underneath the black box, there is no filter of any type... Just a few plastic baffles molded into the cover itself.. And also an orange gasket.
