i installed my neons yesturday (eurolite) i mounted the transformer under the hood on my left strut tower, and ran the power wire direct to the battery and a switch where my shifter is. EVERY time i turn on my neons, my ETS and ABS light come on, if i turn off the neons the ets and abs lights still stay on, they only turn off when i turn off my Z and restart it. Any ideas whats causeing this and how i can fix it, i dont really have much more room under my hood to mount it anywhere else.
you wired it wrong.
“Facts are meaningless. You could use facts to prove anything that’s even remotely true."
how is that possible? the transformer has two wires on it and the neons have two wire coming to the transformer, they are wired paraelle so you cant screw up. and i connected it straight to the battery wire a fuse, i didnt splice into anything. they neons work fine.
Ive hooked up many eurolight kits.
Off the transformer, is 5 wires. 2 black, 1 red with a 15 amp fuse, and a Green/orange/blue depending of the series, And a white ground.
The 2 black wires connect to each wire respectively to the first tube. They are reversable, so you cant wire that part wrong.
WHite wire goes to the ground, i used a strut tower bolt.
The red goes to your battery with an inline fuse.
And the other unknown color goes to the switch, which also needs a SEPERATE ground, AND SEPERATE power wire.

It looks like you may have grounded it to a power source that another system was using.

mine doesnt have those wires, mines a simple transformer, 2 black wires going to the tube and a red power wire with a inline fuse and a black ground which i grounded to the strut tower, i put a switch on the red wire. I think the transformer is interfearing with the abs unit cause its so close to the master cylinder (left strut tower), could it cause damage to my computer if i leave it where it is? i dont really mind that it turns off my abs.
A personal note...get rid of the neons. No offense but when I first got my car, I went the cheap neon light route. Now I regret the money wasted on the gay ricey look that everyone and their moms have on their cars. It's your choice but I'd focus your money on more meaningful things...lights don't make you faster.

if you cant help with his post/question dont post talkin @!#$ about his car. What about going for a show car, indoors, have seen many cars done well with neons that look very impressive. Just because you may be into it for racing, not everyone is

You wired it correctly!
TheShape @ www.automotivehelper.com wrote:1) Relocate the neons transformer. It will cause the ABS light to come on if it is too close to the brake system.
2)If you are using StreetGlow Blue Line series, the transformers are in each tube and you might be SOL since one tube is right next to the brake lines.
I am a member of www.j-body.org and it is all about Cavs and Suns and all other JBody platform vehicles. If you have any other issues, check them out. This has been discussed there many times. Hope this helps.
Kind of freaky how I found another j-body member on a different forum when looking for this. I have the same problem with the ABS light comming on. I don't care about it because the ABS brakes still work when the light is on. I made sure to check in a parking lot with the neons on.

Bah... nothing to do with the wiring.
The high frequency from the transformer is inducing a current in the ABS wires and throwing the system off. Re-route the wires further from the ABS lines (you may have to do some wire tracing here...) and you should fix the problem. Or insulate the wires better... the wires on most neon kits are pretty cheap & flimsy.

I bought the neons cause i like the way they make my car look, no one else around here has them cause they are so expensive (croatia). my car is the only one in my town that has them.
Agree with John Lenko
You could try to wrap the neon wires in baking/cooking alumin(i)um foil and then electrical taping over them--be careful not to short out anything
This may prevent inducing the high frequency in the ABS lines!
