did something really stupid..

I was in my car with my girl after hanging out, car was running, and I went and hit the ignition to start it up (distractions).
Since then, it kinda skips randomly at start up, I think I may have broke a tooth on the flywheel, or starter gear, sound about right?
What may be the potential consequences, other than replacing both?
Otherwise everything is normal for now.

You diagnosed your own problem....

...and came up with your own worst case scenario.

Well, not to be negative, but yeah, that is true.
My concern is mainly fragments of metal that could do damage elsewhere.
Just looking for some feedback is all, I'm sure I'm not the only idiot who has done that.

any metal from the broken teeth are long gone

but what you said sounds like your problem

best would be to look near the oil pan there shouldbe a plastic shield you can pull off and look at the flywheel teeth , and rotate the motor over slowly and look at it

and you should be able to see any damage to it , if any was done to it

then pull the starter and look at it

and we'll have to pull your roadhead/sex membership from you , LOL

i did it twice in a row once. my dad had a 74 Malibu with a 400, ran smooth as silk. i dropped my dad off to pick up his truck, both of us got out of the car and looked at his truck. when i went back to the car i didn't know he left it running. i tried to start it, you know the sound it made. i thought the starter just engaged wrong. i tried to start it again. he started waving his arms. then i realized it was already running. didn't hurt it though.

I would have wrote you a poem, but I couldn't find anything that rhymed with F@#K OFF!

Thanks for the responses, I'll prolly let it slide until my car does not start, just was a bit of concern about the metal, but I think it will be alright.
I got a laugh from your last comment JDM, funny stuff.
What can I say, women make us do stupid things.
