CAI, now engine gets warm faster
Saturday, October 15, 2005 8:01 PM
I installed a CAI on my car and when i stomp on it at take off or at anytime during driving my temp gauge goes up, it never did this before. When i first put it on when i get out i could feel the heat and smell hot plastic and rubber comin from the engine bay. when i checked nothing is melting or even hot and the CAI isn't warm or anything. Whats wrong?

sure you hooked everything back up? i've never heard of that before. just out of curiousity, is it directly to the throttle body or does it connect to the black box thing?

Is it getting the same amount of air? Ive never taken the air box off my 2.2 but on my mitsubishi mirage I put a cai on and it wasnt getting air because the plastic charge box wasnt aimed at it... I just cut that open a bit and it solved the problem.

Wait... did you get a cold air intake, or just a cone filter? A cai is the pipe and cone filter, a cone filter itself isnt a cai.

well im not sure what intake that is but i have the same engine, and i bought and injen intake that replaces the whole stock air box.

someone correct me if im wrong but i think that your intake is not considered a CAI but a WAI (warm air intake) so its probably not gonna make the car run cooler.

but as for it running hotter than before i kinda had the same problem when i switched out my intakes. not a huge jump to the hot side but enough to see that it was higher than before. I think it might be because the intake came with a cheap cone filter, but i could be wrong.
