...does a 2002 2200 cavalier normally need?
4.5 quarts is most likely what it needs. i know my 97 2.2 needs 4.5quarts
Audrey, whenever you do an oil change, pour the new oil in and wait about five minutes. This lets the oil drain into the crankcase, which is where the dipstick goes. I usually pour in 4 quarts, let it sit, then check. If you need more oil, open another quart. You should check after EVERY oil change and use appropriate(spelling?) measures so you do not have too much or not enough oil.
Brandon, I know mine use generally 4.5 quarts, but this post is for the 2200, not the 2.4L. Plus, my 2.4L uses more then 4 quarts.

Ban low-performance cars, not high-performance ones.
I put exactly 4 quarts in my 2002 2200 everytime. Seems to be the perfect amount, but if you aren't sure, just check it periodically...
I have a 2002 2200 OHV and it takes 4.5 quarts to fill it to full.
God bless America.
My 2002 2200 takes exactly 4quarts with a new filter.

the most underrated and most unread book in the world is the owners manual to a car.
