I believe the two wires already on the gauge are for the light. So one goes to ground, and the other goes to a power source that comes on when you want.
Then the two smaller brass studs, one goes to power and the other to ground.

White and black wires = power and ground for the back light.
The brass studs are for mounting the gauge.
The silver studs are where you will hook power and ground for the gauge.
(Macro mode for close up shots works wonders

ok i understand that about the black and white wires but there are three smaller studs you said two are for power and ground but what about the third and were is the ground thanks for the info.
What brand gauge is it?
Kind of looks either like Autometer or Equus
