I was watching tv and a commercial came on advertising a thing (looked like a GPS screen) that told your car's torque, horsepower, 0-60 time and 1/4 mile time. It also said it only plugged into the cigarette lighter and hung from the rearview mirror? Any truth in this?

For it to get your HP number even CLOSE you have to tell it how heavy your car is.
Once it has that, it infers everything from g-forces, it's an accelerometer that does some calculations.
