Well guys, if I play my cards right, these two babies will be going into my LD9 next weekend. I'm still unsure whether or not I'll dyno but I'm also shooting to to a header at the same time.
I'm also staring at a P&P farther down the line also. just to get things all set up for boost. Who knows what'll happen though..
Anyways. This thread is to be updated later! Stay tuned for updates.
I'm really looking forward to it. I'll also have pictures of the process if I remember to take my camera with me. until then, wish me luck.
Good Luck.

Modded W41 hot cams?

Remember....syringes go in the RED waste basket.
eh I don't call them the not so secret secret secret not secret secret cams.
they're the hybrid cams. haha my registry does say secret cams though
but yes. maybe I should have been more specific.
They are the 2.3 Hybrid cams. I remember the intake cam coming from a green 2.3 Grand am that I happend to find with the CPS and the hex for the power steering. I think it was a 95 but I can't quite remember.
The exhaust cam came from a 93 grand am. I believe it was Red?
So yeah, hopefully they'll give some sort of noticeable gain eh?

YES! ladies and gentlemen, it's been a few days but it's finally done. The cams are in, they idle nicely, no leaks, nada. It works perfectly
I made the trip all the way to Arizona to meet, the man the myth the legend, Dave. He was really cool about helping me, so he gets my special thanks. The project took us about 7 hours, the timing fell right into place and we just kept second guessing ourselves. We also made a couple of trips to the auto store to pick up some things we forgot. The car itself feels stronger, but I have no numbers to verify that, and I still need to get my header on there.... Anyways. on with the pics!
-----------------
This is Right after I showed up, we wanted to get started right away so we jumped the radiator fan and threw another fan on there to help cool the engine, took about an hour
The car's getting jacked up here and the passenger tire removed to allow for the removal of the crank pulley and some of the timing chain cover bolts
That's dave, looking up some torque specs
Some of the things like the power steering pump and the IDI cover come off....
Although it was quite a bitch to remove, the upper engine mount came out with a lot of pushing and shoving, no breaker bar was used... >.> that's all Power of Rodney there.
Power steering side of the engine.
Dave loosening some bolts
Dave still loosening bolts
The timing chain cover had been removed as well as the cam gears and the chain and the tensioner and the little plastic shoes that hold the timing chain in place. At this point I had already taken off the crank pulley.
This is the engine without the fuel rail and a few other things,
Another angle
Another angle of the timing chain cover removed
A picture of where the crank pulley used to be, we put the bolt back on so we would rotate the crank to time the cams later on
At this point, the cams were in and it was time to put everything back together
Dave putting the final torque on the IDI cover
The engine
A shot of the engine again
Another.... dave's inspecting the work
And another! the final product. Started up nicely. idled nicely, no codes. For the win!
All in all, it took us about 7 hours to get the cams in. and I learned quite a bit helping dave get this done. once again, special thanks to him for helping me out. I really appreciate it.
And there you have it! my LD9 now has the not so secret secret cams...
THE Hybrid Cams >.>
Thanks to chad for riding around in his new.. motorized skateboard >.> dude that thing is dangerous, I dunno what the hell you're gonna do with it. But yes, thank you chad also.
Glad everything we well. I have those cams. Gave me the most seat of my pants gain.

i dont see no blood anywhere , LOL
i know im forgetting something , i just forget what im forgetting
haha I had a few cuts on me, dave did too, even through gloves. but they weren't major enough to merit a picture. I'm thinking more along the lines of decapitation.
