I've got a buddy who has some left over fuel from last season, about 8 gallons if i remember right of a 28% mix of nitro, anyone ever run somethin like this in a mostly stock 2200? i'm figuring if it doesnt burn the pistons out of the car it'll be a ton of fun lol.

That depends. Do you hate this car? Or do you have every intention of rebuilding the motor? Because nitromethane is a really bad, horrible idea, unless of course you actually want to destroy the motor for some reason or another.
Be kind to dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
it will be, until it blows up!!!
DO IT!!

lol, I'm not planning on adding a TON of nitro to my fuel, the guys got 8 gals of a 28% nitro mix, so it will go into a almost full tank of 91 octane, which will degrade the mix a bit, it also has something most people overlook 2 stroke oil. I know for a FACT this mix wont destroy my motor, it ran in 2 stock ford escort motors both 1.9s one with a carb and one thats injected for 6 months of racing, both completely bone stock, the carbed one was recently checked for cylinder pressure and still has 175 psi across all 4 cylinders, the starting compression was around 10 to 1 or so as the head was slightly milled down and thats about the only mod done to it, both cars still run great. The secret to using nitro is controlling the burn rate.
Nitro is an oxygenated fuel, meaning it carries its own oxygen and it explodes very violently, to control this we add regular fuel such as 91 octane, this helps slow the flame front down on the nitro by thinning the mix, next we add 2 stroke oil, the 2 stroke delays ignition which is why pump gas mixed with 2 stroke wont run thru a car, but when you run alcohol you can add 2 stroke and it will fire, the burn is hot enough to negate the 2 stroke, 2 stroke oil also adds as an upper cylinder lubricant, which helps keep the rings and everything in good working order, as long as the heat is substantial enough it will not leave a residue inside the chambers and cause coking.
The trick is to balance the burn rate so that its a steady complete burn and not a violent explosion such as nitro has the reputation for. That being said the calculated gain from runing this diluted mix of nitro is around 30 to 40 hp at the wheels, my main reason for asking this question was to see if anyone else has tried anything like this.
I'll let everyone know how it works out.......worst case i'll keep everyone informed on the rebuild

Even a little bit on a motor not built for it might be dangerous...
What's more important...being fast for a second or having a motor that will last years?

like i said man, it was run for a full race season in a 1.9 bone stock sohc ford motor with 100,000 plus miles on it and the motor never lost compression, the weekly rpm of this motor was 6200rpm every lap every race, bone stock with high miles. and that mix will last the whole tank, not just a few seconds. its really not that much different than running nitrous, its just instead of injecting oxygen into my fuel, the fuel carries the oxygen...oh and the car that ran it was a hobbystock at a local dirt track, 2 heat races and a feature every night i think it was 10 or 15 laps a feature, all of them pinned at 6200rpm sometimes up to 6500 which is right about the factory rev limiter on most stock ford escorts. not sure that its such a great idea for a daily driver, but it would be a ton of fun to go out and play around with it for a night.

Well not to be rude or anything but if you're going to do it anyways, why are you asking us if you should or shouldn't?

Do it! I wanna know what happens, but am WAY too scared to do it to my car. I hope you are going to dyno it.
if you do it, DEFINATELY let us know what happens.
you will build to much compression and blow the motor ur lucky if the connection rods dont come out the side of the block but you can try it if u want lol
