So i got a 98 2200 sunfire with a TON of miles... around 100k all freeway though so its not tooooo bad but im lookin to get it movin a little quicker... and this is what i've done so far... Custom ground kit, new intake on the way, short throw shifter, and plugs and wires... what should i do next... lets not go insane... i want to keep it N/A without a doubt because of how many miles the internals have on em... but other than that i'm open to suggestions... lets here emm
I started with the intake, my header is on the way. I've got 2 1/4" piping from the cat-back into a magnaflow muffler. After that look into maybe a fuel pressure regulator or maybe pulleys. I would say to do your exhaust first being that its relatively cheap and pretty satisfying.
If you want to unlock some real power out of a 2200, you gotta upgrade your valvetrain. That's the biggest restrictor on that motor. Engine parts are relatively cheap cause you only have 8 valves. Check out
www.jbodyperformance.com for the parts you will need.

exhaust**** set up.
Weapon-R Header (4-1), Magnaflow Catalytic Converter, Magnaflow Cat-back or a custom cat-back setup of your choosing.
You can take your car to any exhaust shop and they can bend the piping for you. DO NOT get crush bends, get either compression bends or mendrel bends. You can also pick out a resonator/glasspack if you want to keep the tone down.
For the Header, you can buy the Weapon-R header at
www.definedparts.com.
Also a side note, for a port job, you can contact org member
fats84z, he can port it for you for a very reasonable price and he does a good job. I would suggest a 3 angle valve job.

What's all this "the biggest restriction is the valvetrain" mumbo jumbo?
First it was the bottom end, then it was the head flow, now it's the valvetrain...
Upgrading your springs will only hurt you on a stock cam, and a real cam won't be useable with the stock ECU and head (flow)...
