I got a question for you . i have a 1999 sunfire with a 2200 motor in it. I would like to do a motor swap for a 2200 to a 4.3 vortex. is it even possible to put a 4.3 vortex in a sunfire.I need so feedback on what you think? What motor would you swap into a sunfire if it was yours? I am looking to be a pretty quick street car. Thanks
what trans fits sideways and will handle a 4.3 vortec? how about wiring, computer control, engine mounts, frame stiffening... once you figure those out, let us know.honestly, you'd get more out of a 3800 or 3400 swap.

Vortec 4.3L V6 used in the S/T and C/K trucks. In the full size trucks it was rated at 200 Hp and I think 240 Tq. My guess is the 2.2L trans would bolt up.
^ Didnt you know its the jdm version of the VORTEC come on people get with it..lol
As for the original poster..if you have to ask you do not have the skills. Can be done with lots of money but isnt worth it
Thanks for the feedback everybody.
Rich Grayo Jr. with one would you go with a 3.4 or 3.8
The 4.3 gets less credit than it deserves. its a good motor.
Nope..the 4.3 is a great motor..for a rwd vehicle..
Im sure some company would be able to make an adapter for it if someone was willing to pay.
Thanks for the feedbacks.
i think that the 4.3 is a great motor, but it would be alot of work and money to put that 4.3 in it.
if you cant spell it how you expect to do it
Alright you want to say that, thats cool. But just remember i got a 4.3 vortec in my garage in a s10 and i know that cavy of yours would not keep up at all. So you can talk all you want. But you know and i know that cavy keep up with my 4.3 vortec.
Do it then ans prove us wrong..please! And when you have spent your thousands on the swap we can laugh at how much it cost you for 200 hp when you can throw a eco in there with a turbo for much much less.
Dont ask peoples opinion if you are going to shoot it down....do the swap. Prove us wrong..
If you think a 4.3 S10 (4WD or 2WD) will keep up with a mildly modded (exhaust, intake, mm) then you should be shot!!! Don't get me wrong, I love the S10 ZR2's!!! In fact I will be buying one next winter, but don't say that they are fast.....so if by keep up I hope you mean mud driving, i hope!!

Yeah S-10's are big and baaaaaad. My friend had one with the 4.3 Vortec, 5 speed, K&N panel filter, jet chip, gibson exhaust, and the performance oriented rear end. I smmmmmoooooked him in a bone stock Z24 with 125WHP.

You would be doing good to just beat a completly stock z24. The 4.3 just feels fast because it jumps when you hit the gas due to the sloppy stock suspension of the vehicles they come in. You should take it to the track so you know what it runs before you go spouting off at the mouth.
This post is just like all the others. If you have to ask you have proved already you will not accomplish it. These threads do not deserve to be in the performance forum. They should stay in the newbies forum.

you have rear wheel horsepower on a 97 cav?!?!
Show some pics, that sounds AWESOME!!
Woah, hold on a minute, you're saying that your v6 s10 is fast!?!? Thats a laugh, its just like anyone who drives a Blazer, they think its fast because of the suspension. I've gotta say, its one of my favorite things pulling up on one with them revving their engine when the light turns and they end up eating my dust.

I love how you talk about an engine you have no experience with. Thankyou for your wonderful, but completely useless response!
