2.2L ecotec to 3.8L engine swap

I have heard rumors that you can swap the engine in a 04 cavy with a 3.8L and it will bolt to the 5 spd cavy tranny does anyone know if this has been done or if its just talk i am very interested in doing it

its not the eco trans it bolts to. you would need a trans from an OHV equipped car.

Check out www.motorswap.org there's a few guys on there that have done it. As Rich says, it's the older 2.2L (non-Ecotec) transmission that has the same bellhousing to bolt up to the 3800 block. Getrags seem to hold up, dunno about the Isuzus.

I swapped the L67 supercharged 3.8L, but I stuck with the auto trans that came with it, the 4T65E-HD. I might go 6 speed if I can find one... once the auto blows up.

But the 3800 swap is a LOT of work. But enough people have done it, the info is out there. And from what I know, its worth it.
