Vortec 4.3L 70mm TB// N/A Powa!

So,

The search for a good size TB for my project continues.
I decided to order a Vortec unit off the 4.3L truck motors. The TB is new and came with 2 new sensors.... the IAC and the TPS.
Next im going to be getting a flange cut.....

HERES MY QUESTION:

I am not familiar with the 4.3 L, In the picture # 3 below I used MS Paint to scetch what I THINK the flange should look like. Does this seem correct?

Thanks.

The flange doesnt have to be fancy..can be a big square flange and a hole bored in it for your tb, and holes drilled and tapped for mounting.

Yeah...................

Im more asking people to look at the pictures for the configuration of the IAC port and if it is propperly placed based on picture 3. Also the holes needed based on the orange gasket. This is why I was wondering if anyone had experience with the 4.3.

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, but yes that is the IAC hole. My Northstar is very similar to the Vortec TB's...except the IAC is on the opposite side. One of the other holes on the Northstar TB is a vacuum source (I believe brake booster) and the middle hole is just an empty part of the casting. If you are making your own intake manifold and want an extremely large plenum, then you can just drill a hole in the flange for the IAC (and another hole for the vacuum source as well if you have one). Otherwise, this is what I did...

I played it safe when I had the flange cut as to not cut the IAC bypass too deep, not realizing how unnecessarily large 1" thickness really was. I could have easily gotten away with 1/2"...oh well.

any one know of any T/bs that are between 60-65mm stock from GM that might work. I don't want to run to large of a T/B on my N/A setup And my manifold is also only borded to 65mm.

Any ideas?

Hmmm, the ones that I know of arnt all GM. The only GM one I know thats 65mm is a Grand National TB (GNX).

On a side note almost all mustang TB's ive seen are 65mm.
