Bigger tb and now a no traction light?
Friday, June 13, 2008 5:06 PM
I just recently, like 5 minutes ago, installed a 62mm tb on my ecotec engine. It's the reveco tb if that makes any difference; and it was on admiral jedi's car of ecotecforum.com. He removed it and shipped it away to me after I had purchased it off of him. I'm trying to get in touch with him to see if he had any no trac lights with it installed.

My question is, would any of the sensors on the tb cause a no trac light?

The light doesn't come on for about 5 minutes and then it turns on. I've reset it and same thing, within 5 minutes I have a no traction light. The car is driving fine, just a no traction light?

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing me to get a no trac light? The only thing I touched whenever I was installing the tb was the tb sensors? I had the battery disconnected so I couldn't have shorted anything out?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you !

If it's not sealed up properly... it can fubar the VSS when it gets mixed readings from air being sucked in. I remember my girlfriend thought it would be a great idea to clean her MAF on her 99 Grand Prix on a holiday monday.... bolts for the MAF snapped, so we had to pull the TB off to drill them out. I didn't have a base gasket seal, so reused the old one... uh yea, the computer wouldn't even shift out of 1st when we tried to drive it, no matter what. So I'd say, just start with the basics.

Alright thank you. I'll check the seal on it again tonight. I guess i'll have to pull it apart again. Thanks for the quick reply.

I had a feeling it wasnt the sensors. I cant imagine how they'd be connected to the traction control.

Any ideas as to where it could be leaking air? I just pulled it apart again and put silicon around the edging of the tb to match up with the gasket and let it sit for an hour for the silicon to set and it's still leaking air somewhere.

Does it have to be with the throttle body or can it be with the intake tubing itself?

first, did you try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it AFTER this problem started?

and even more firstly, did you torq the bolts right? remember, its done in INCH POUNDS. like 89 I think, but look it up. becouse of the way it sits on the seal I would also suggest hand tightening in an X pattern first, then torqing in the X pattern.

this may sound overly anal, but hey, mine never had any problems.

btw, is the revco 62mm at the butterfly? I got the SMG one becouse they advertised being 62mm at the butterfly and I had heard about other brands that were only 62mm at the front and funneling down.

It funnels down i think it also funnels up? something like 62mm 60 butterfly to a 62mm i believe?

And yes i did torque it to the right ft per pound. 89/12 = 7.4.. I did about 7.5 so that's good. I also did the x pattern as well.

Did you use any sealant?

Oh and yes I did disconnect the battery about a handful of times.. it still presents its self.

Have you adjusted the settings down on your shift plus?

You Eco guys chime in, but I know you have to port the tb opening on the 2.4's when getting the 62mm tbs out there.
Check to see if you have to port out slightly.

I have the shiftplus turned off. I'm gonna leave the silicon sit a bit longer and try it in the morning. Thanks for the replys!

Thanks for the help. It turns out a sensor down by the oil pan wiggled loose? I have it working top notch with no cels. I can't figure out how the sensor came apart. The clips are fine so whatever it's working ! Thanks for the help!

hopefully you fixed your problem! i was having an issue with my 'no trac' light on my sunfire, and my car was throwing a code for a Throttle position sensor low value.. so i'm looking at replacing it, i have a feeling it will fix my problem.
