I was wondering if i just put a custom fitted pipe where the cat. converter used to be, could it wreck my exhaust?

I know its illegal Also i was wondering if anyone had the pace setter exhaust and if they had to get any welding done, i had a stock exhaust on my 95 2.2L before and the brackets that come with it seem different than the stock ones, the old one just wrapped around the muffler i see that this one has too hooks between the muffler and tip, any help would be appreciated i want to get it on and hear it.

the hooks you bolt the car to use as exhaust hangers.

Do i put the hooks on to the hooks on the muffler? if that doesn't sound stupid? So i bolt the hooks to the car and where do i use the bushings, sorry for the newbie question's but im learning.

is that just black paint?

The bushings have two holes in them. one for the hook on the hanger you bolt to your car, and the other for the muffler

Actually, if your area or state has emissions exemption for all non-OBD-II vehicles (Pre-'96; Like mine does!), then it's perfectly okay to eliminate it. In fact, in the area of length that the catalytic would occupy you could just add more length to the glasspack you may want to use with the system you're building... If you're using one. Just use one that has the louvers punched outward from the center of the tube, that also matches the diameter of the pipe used up to it, and it'll seem like just another length of pipe to the exhaust gases.

actually you are violating FEDERAL law that says you cant remove ANY emmissions equipment that comes stock on the car. States can have no emmissions laws but you still cant remove the cat.

Just a small question: Is this your 1/4mi. circle-track car you're speaking of? The one that, as far as I know, won't ever see street use? If so, you may be in luck... As the emissions rules tend to look the other way when it comes to race-duty only vehicles. Once they're registered as such, they get automatic exemption. But, you can ever license them as a street vehicle or operate them on the street. Now, where I live... Anything built of a model-year 25yrs or more prior to the current calender year qualifies for antique-vehicle status, which also means emissions exemption.

I don't know what the laws are in The Great White North, but if you check them carefully, I'm sure you'll find a loop-hole big enough for you to put your car though.

what we are saying, is that even if the vehicle is exempt from emissions testing, if your car came from the factory with a cat, it is illegal by FEDERAL law to remove it, or any other part of the emissions control system.

Which is why I ALWAYS put a high flow cat on every car I modify the exhasut on.

it basically takes most of the restriction provided by the cat while keeping you legal.

What if i were to just use a glass packed cherry bomb instead?

just buy a high flow cat. they arent that expensive. do a search or ask people here about where to get one

It'd be quieter than if you use a Magnaflow resonator, but the way the louvers are punched will have a more negative effect on flow than the Magnaflow would.

I think for the sake of quelling arguement here, maybe you should go with a high-flow catalytic convertor. But then, you never did answer my question: Is this a full-race vehicle or not? If so, then go ahead & eliminate the catalytic. If not, get a high-flow replacement cat & fit a glasspack muffler between the cat & the first turn in the pipe just before the rear axle.

Well its a street car, not full racing. Also i'm kinda short on cash right now so i was just gonna go buy the cherry bomb till my catalytic converter comes in, which will be like 2-3 weeks, cause of pay pals 6-8 days then the shipping.
