I say: Just follow the guidelines you'll find here on how it's done, and it should work fine. Anyone else?

Run FAR, FAR AWAY from Z-spec. They are the slightly reformatted crooks formerly known as RSM. And there's really no reason to port the 2200 intake manifold if you haven't ported the head. In all honesty, the stock intake manifold is more limited by the soda-can sized plenum and ridiculously long runners than it is by the diameter of the runners. And the only way to fix that is a custom intake manifold of some kind.

As stated above, stay away from Z-Spec/RSM. The intake manifold is as restricted as JersyJay says. Just bolt the 2.3L's 56mm TB as suggested above. IIRC there is a lip behind the TB flange that may or may not get in the way of the bigger TB.

Manta Part is another company to stay away from or order COD only. They have a way of taking your money and maybe months(or years) before they send you the parts. With COD they don't get their money till you get your part, so they might send you your order.

Some say get a Dremel too use the lowest speed with a high speed cutter bit and remove the lip.

i cant say how transactions through Z-spec themselves go but i can tell you that if you through Frank on ebay (FrankieZ) you do not have any problems. you can contact him and see if he can get anything you may be looking for.

ive bought a few RSM/Z-spec products and the quality is damn good, not one issue from the items ive used.

another thing, a few people on here have stated that recently their transactions through Z-spec have gone flawlessly...

Hogan? You think anyone is willing to pay upwards of $1200 for an intake for a Cavalier? That would cost about as much as the car is worth!

I've seen grander, as in worse, wastes of money on a car... Like dubs, leopard-print seats & flip-down DVD on a Geo Metro.

^That doesn't mean I feel building a J-car is a waste. Just that I've seen examples of people going to what may be considered irrational extremes in spending on something. In fact, alot of my auto-creation ideas seem to border on the crazy, but they are all with practical purpose. So if you want a better or different manifold that badly...

Just for $#!+$ & giggles, I checked their pricing. It's now $1400 for an intake!

I've done a bit of calculating and have come up with some diamentions. Now if I could find someone to TIG it up for me....

granted $1400 for an intake is excessive...

BUT... custom intake manifolds are not cheap to make and not cheap all together. if it was quality i'd pay $1400, it better have dyno proven results though.

Bravo, Jack! I figure if anyone here could figure it out it'd be you. What parameters have you designed it around (Egine specs & goals)?

Brad, Hogans is definitely worht thier price. They do outstanding work! They're just outside of... Ohh, about 99.5% of J-Body owners price range. Go look a some of the upper level drag racers, you're bound to find a few on some of the more successful racers.

Michael, the design I was tinkering with was a little more radical than the Hydraulic Roller Cams would be happy with. Lets say something in the neighborhood of 4.5k-6.5k powerband. Something for a moderate street roller cam would work well with. Maybe the 5sp with those 4.10 gears and slightly smaller diameter DRs or even slicks, for the track. Very lopey idle for street / computer controled motor. The stock PCM would be maxed out, getting into the standalone range. All just for fun though!
