NEW EXHAUST FEELER

This is just as first feeler post so I have NO PRICES yet. If you ask you will be e-slapped by everyone Now that that is done....

Team Vision Racing and Atomic Motorsports are considering making 3 types of exhausts for the J-Bodies. We would like to know what kind of interest there is before we start thinking about pricing though. Here's what we're thinking about...

-Ultralight Race Downpipe/Header Back Exhaust: Would be a combination of stainless steel and aluminum. This exhaust would weigh it at around 20lbs plus your muffler. For turbo cars you would have to have a downpipe made to mate up with the exhaust unless you have a setup that we have already test fitted. For NA cars we will be making these header-backs meaning they will bolt right up to the factory header and aftermarket headers of the same size. Add your own muffler or we can weld it on for you for a bolt on system. Would have no provisions for a catalytic converter. RACE ONLY.

-Standard Downpipe/Header Back Exhaust: Would be the same as above but made from your choice of stainless steel, aluminum or mild steel. Would be a bit heavier than the race exhaust but also cheaper. Add your own muffler or we can weld it on for you for a bolt on system. Will have option for catalytic converter.

-Side Pipe Exhaust: Can be made in aluminum, stainless, or mild and would have provisions for mounting to the factory hangar locations that are accessible. Would exit before the driver's side rear wheel. This setup will have a glasspack muffler option but nothing else because of fitment. Will not have provisions for a catalytic converter. RACE ONLY.

-All three exhausts can be made with either V-Band or 3-Bolt flanges to connect the sections.

-All three will require you to choose your own muffler.

-All three will be made as bolt-on as possible.

-All three will be made for each motor (2.2L, 2200, 2.4L and 2.2 Eco)

So then...thoughts and opinions? If you have any questions post them up and either me, Bonnett, or Atomic will answer them to the best of our abilities at this early stage. We are still looking for test cars around the Chicago area so if your interested in that email me at ryne@teamvisionracing.com.

Like ryne said right now were just bouncing idea's off of each other and looking for a little input from everyone. That goes for mufflers, piping size and materials. So a 4" pipe is not out of the question by any means.

I'd be in if shipping prices to Canada are not ridiculous. This is exactly what I was looking for 2.5" from the header back, but because of emissions I'd need the one with a cat. My supercharger needs to breath!

This weekend I will be doing a test run on a 3" cat back. Once I get a good idea of build time and actual materials used we can get a better feel for everything . Along with pictures on and off the vehicle.

Me and ryne will be getting together this weekend to go over everything. So buy sat or sun I want to have all exact pricing and some sort of time line up when you can expect everything to get rolling.

I havent been around a computer to post up. But I'm in. I just did all my maintenance stuff and found out the car needed a LOT less work than I thought, so I have a little extra cash to throw at something new.

PM me or text me when youre ready sir.

The Ultra Lite and the Side Exit are exactly what I was looking for. Searching right now for a cat back, so I'm all in.

I know shipping prices will be high, that is expected for this. But, let's try and keep the prices well below the Magnaflow and Borla set ups. $600+ is crazy. Half that is the perfect price.

I'm not sure on how you're going to be doing the flanges on all three types of exhaust and where the flanges are going to be in the exhaust for removal or adding components.
On the Ultralight, where does the aluminum come into play on the exhaust?

If I was to purchase a 2.5 headerback ultralight for the Cavy, would the side exitt hardware interchange with the over axle exhaust in case I can't make up my mind on whether I'm wanting to go with side exit or over axle? I might purchase this combo and I'm wanting to see how interchangeable the two setups are so that something like this may be able to be done.

I'm in the market for an exhaust since the cheap one I purchased has kept the Cavy off of the street with fitment issues. I was in the process of buying the Iperformance catback piping but since I've seen this thread, it has my interest as I'm not planning on buying for the next month or so but very soon..

yeah, an interchangable system would be pretty sweet......put the side exit on for the track, and an over axle system for on the road....I could dig that.
