Torque Specs?

Hey guys, Don't really know if this is the right forum BUT I was wondering if anyone could tell me the rocker arm torque specs on a 95 2.2l motor...

And if having the head plained would affect the specs in any way... I think it has been plained .006? I know it wasnt much, but any help would be appreciated.

A quick Google search says "22 ft-lbs"
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_are_the_torque_specs_for_the_rocker_arm_studs_for_a_1995_cavalier

I don't know if its right, just throwing it out there.

plaining the head shouldnt effect it as long as it isnt like 1/4 inch the lifters are hydr. so it will absorb it

The studs area are a "torque-stop" design, menaing that the nut threads down onto the stud until it meets the shoulder-step on the stud, then making a interference fit that torquing the nut compounds. This checks/sets the plunger in the lifter via the pushrod, so when the lifter sees the begining of the ramp on the cam lobe it's properly lashed & no noise results.

This is a carefully designed system, and any change to the stud's height/distance relative to the lifters (Via block milling & head decking) can seriously effect it, depending on how much total milling has been done. Generally it's a rule amongst LN2 builders that if you mill the then you should install adjustable rockers to correct for the change I mentioned, so as to keep the lifters properly lashed.

That's seems only to happen at cold start-up, when the oil galley (Which feeds the valvetrain first) has bleed down. If it continues to tick like a diesel after a full warm-up, then you may be looking at a need for lifter replacement. Such as was the case with the factory engine in my '94. Of course, part of that was due to a previous owner's mechanic failing to fish all the broken pieces of the factory timing chain assembly outta the pan. Which got feed to the rest of the engine & eventually led to the full colapsing failure of the lifters at 163,000mi, prompting a full-rebuild.
