I would use the line it came with. Depending on where you are mounting the gauge it could be very difficult to use steel braided line for it.

Get the autometer copper hard line kit. That's what I ran this season... didn't leak a drop and no worry about it rubbing through.

it's like 1/3 the price of the braided line kit.

I do not like that either. Ran that way back in the day but switched back to the nylon line. It would bend to easy and crimp.

Why would using the steel braided line be bad? i would think that the nylon line would rub through before the steel line. That and its not long enough so i would need to get more anyways.

Are you installing the gauge on the pillar? If so getting the steelbraided line up the pillar is going to be very difficult.

Then it will probably not be that big of a deal then. Sorry.

The most common use, That I've seen for the larger braided line was on circle track and road race cars. They use them for the faster response time for the gauge, to know if the oil pick-up is becoming uncovered and they are sucking air.

My self, I used the 1/8" copper tubing in the engine compartment, up to the pass-through on the fire wall, where I used the nylon tubing up to the gauge. I'm using the pillar pod, so the smaller flexible tubing came in handy, running the line through the firewall and up to the gauge.

After I stopped cross-threading the fitting on the motor (reaching down between the firewall and PS pump/engine, thank God I've got thin arms!), I haven't had a problem in over two years.
