I am starting my winter project and am getting ready to order alky injection and a TBS. My next thing I want to look into is getting a larger TB. I believe the inlet for the m45 s/c is just under 60mm so I am wanting to have a TB that is at least 60mm. I'm not sure what would be the best way to do that. I'm not sure if I should get a TB off the 2.3 and bore it or just get a new TB. I want to know how to get at least a 60mm TB at the most cost effective way. I don't mind spending money but just want to see what other people have done and what they think is best, or the better way to go. I may someday look into getting the s/c ported and polished and wondering if that will change the inlet size of the m45? If anyone can help me out that would be great. If I can get this part of the project done then I can look into see what direction I should go for injectors. Thinking the LSJ injectors, but not entirely sure if that will meet my requirements. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

my 60MM is a bored out 2.3 TB. It worked great when I had a M45.
So am I right to say that the stock LD9 TB is 52mm and it can only be bored out to a 56mm and the 2.3 TB is 56mm and can be bored out to 60mm?
the stock 2.4 LD9 throttle body is sized at 52mm.
the stock 2.4 LD9 throttle body can only be bored out to 58mm
WITHOUT sleeving the inside bore. there physically is not enough material there to go any larger without messing up the chamber for the IAC valve and the brake booster vacuum chamber.

then there is another option... which includes sleeving the entire inside bore of the TB. i only know of two companies that have ever or are doing them.

this is a stock 2.4 TB bored by RSM Racing (now Z Spec) and SLEEVED to 62mm. ( i have heard its not quite 62mm, more like 61.4mm IIRC)...

this is another stocker but just bored out to 57mm. unsure on where it was bored...
see the tiny lip in the bore? the stock 52mm's is much more apparent.

I wasn't 100% sure on how big the inlet to the s/c was, I just kinda remember reading on a post a while back it was almost 60mm. So I am now in a delema. I want a little more air flow but are a couple mm really gonna make that much of a difference at the end of the day. I'm not looking for 500hp. So when you bore the stock TB you must need a new butterfly. Where can you get a new butteryfly to work with the bored out TB. Are they hard to find? I see that MRZ has has TB's that have a range from 58mm to 62mm. Their price is $295 by the looks of things. Wondering if I did go with a new TB which size would be the best way to go. I am probably running close to lean, gonna get a wideband before the spring and I will probably have to upgrade the injectors. I think the meth injection will make a big difference with the A/F though. I am gonna try and find a local shop to see what they can do with the stock TB but I will keep my eye out for a TB. I have another question about the TB. If I did go with a larger TB, is the GM reflash for the m45 s/c able to handle the more air. I am planning on getting some better injectors and a tune, but need a little help with what to do for injectors as well. I'm not sure if the LSJ injectors will do what I want or not.

I just called a local shop to see if they could bore my stock one out but he wasn't sure if he would be able to get a butterfly for it. He's gonna call me in the next week to let me know. In the mean time I will keep looking for a used one. People find a decent gain from a larger TB? I'm planning on getting a tune after I have all my parts on in the spring. Next part will be getting the right set of injectors.
some people claim a gain while others do not. its really up to you and your car as well as the things done and a tuning option to fully utilize any and all aspects of a 'gain.'

where could i buy a butterfly?
Back when I had mine bored out I just got an ecotec throttle blade from the junkyard. They are 57mm and it was dirt cheap, I think it cost me $40 to have it bored and $5 for the blade.
