I have a 1996 2.2 ohv cavalier (manual) with no stock tach and I want to connect my Faze street indiglo tachometer. The tach has settings for 2-8 & 10 cylinder settings. I need to know where I need to splice in the green wire and also if I need an adaptor for it to work correctly. All help will be much appreciated!!
yes, you need the tach adaptor. i got mine for about $50 on ebay. after the install (fairly straightforward, it coes with instructions for our ignition system, if you should happen to need them , let me know), just hook the tack up to the signal wire from the adaptor and presto, working tach.

i thought if the tach was capable of reading 2 cylinder engines than it will work without a tach adapter since we only have two coil packs.

you have a 2.2 you need an adaptor or else it will only give you half the reading. trace your plugs to your coil pack and there will be 2 harnesses. a 2-pin and a 6-pin. on the 2 pin harness cut the pink wire (i think its either pink or purple cant remember) and splice into that. check my cardomain site for pics
