if I weld the header to a custom 3 inch exhaust pipe and take away the converter and run it straight through will it help my performance ??? or Im better off buying a whole performance cat back ????

3 inch exhaust is way overkill for a stock motor. so unless your registry is not correct, 2 1/4 some say 2.5 is the biggest you NEED to go. 3 Inch will not let your stock motor perform at its best.
so a 2.5 will be good and will it give me the same or better as in buying a catback???

that will probaly make the exhaust sound like crap if you remove the resonator
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
just buy a magnaflow catback and a rksport header or tsudo and call it a day
just weld on a Flowmaster Super 40 right after your downpipe and call it a day.

So sorry for my stupidity but you mean just cut out the muffler put the flowmaster???

Ok i may be able to help here, I had an 03 and i had a hi flow cat, removed resinator, and a straight through fartcan muffler. It worked fine but was LOUD. almost too annoying for daily use.
Leave the cat, Super Street did a dyno test on a 04 Civic Si a long time ago and they got 2 wheel HP with no cat over a stock cat.
I have 2 1/4" pipes, magnaflow high folow cat (not necessary but mine was in poor shape so I replaced it), summit resonator/glass pack, and a Flowmaster supper 44 and I love it. Not too loud but peps notice it, and no drone at highway speeds.
