nice! that would be perfect, or if you wanted to spice up the cavy too..
i bet you he is doing an LS2 swap. theres a company "Mallet" i believe that is sellign solstice V8 conversions. VERY fast
good luck fitting that in a J - the engine would be mounted with the flywheel facing BACK. incedible amounts of custom work needed. if you were going to try to fit this in, might as well try a bmw inline 6... that would be sick.
of you could try the 2.4 anyway.
just the trans would be better.. will fit a regular eco. heres some pointers :
1) room for a shaft and exhaust will be tricky.. might have to cut
2) you will prolly need a fuel cell to account for extra room for a rear dif
3) use a stock eco so the ecu doesnt play into the swap
4) use a 3.94 final drive on your rear dif so the speedo and such work fine
5) youll need custom mounts of course
6) BEEF up rear suspension/chassis if you ever hope to get that thing to hook worth &^%$
thats about all i can think of at the moment..
for all this work i'd rather AWD the car. i think the j-body would make a better awd than rwd car. also i have not spent enough time under the car with this in midn so these are just pointers.. g/l
Sven you totally quarterloafed your computer..
forget about it, a RWD conversion would easily hit up the $15,000 mark MIN, you cant just "slap this in slap that in done" there is alot of work, you'd have to backhalf the car, basically it would be cool, and if you had the cash and wanted a project... i had everything priced out to put a 383SBC in the car and to do things RIGHT and leagal it would've been 22,000 for just the parts, no labour (of course i'd do it all myself but still)

i wonder if that motor bolts up to the FWD Getrag 5 spd. transmissions.........then just do a motor swap with an ECU and you can have V V T.........(a version like Honda's V-tec i am assuming)....wich would be nice....it helps out those POS Hondas........
ah just put a 98 supra engine in it instead

FWD to RWD Could easily hit a million too but I don't throw away my money. It can be done for under 5k depending on your location in the USA. I am actually Going thru it right now for a book I'm suppossed to right. Picked up a 2000 sunfire for free just to haul it off last week. Front passenger seat missing missing carpet and all front lights wiring gone. Is it hard to do?
Depends on what kind of aptitude you have mechanically and Organization. We over here in IL are most likely to have it done for around 2-3k becuase we will be capable to do the whole project from start to finish. Car should be done by april and book to follow that in may to july. We aren't starting project until were finished with another tech guide project we are already funded in. I would devulge more but cannot give away the information before the book is out Sorry.

I Hope you hire on a proofreader, too.

The V-8 Soltice thing...It's been done before Mallet did it. Hot-Rod Magazine, in conjuction with GMPP, has built a Solstice powered by an LS7 w/Corvette 6-spd stick & caddy STS rear. Hot-Rod spent three issues covering it. The only trouble they had during testing was that the suspension settings (Or was it the tires?) weren't ideal (Though the suspension was fully tuneable) for traction while running the 1/4-mile. Otherwise, they loved it! This was no "wannabe" boy-toy racer... It was a full-on brute! They said had it been capable of getting better traction at launch, it would undoubtedly kill the european giants (Lambo, Ferrari, Porsche...). Upon finishing reading the test-drive article, I thought to myself: Oh yeah. America's got another Shelby 427 Cobra!
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
Why would I hire a proof reader? The publisher has it edited however the want it anyway. I dont even get to pick the title.
