2.4L Header Install
Wednesday, January 07, 2009 3:16 PM
Hello, I was wondering if there is a sticky or anyone has experience installing an RK Sport header on a 2.4? I got the old one out with just enough wiggle room. The RK Sport manifold is much wider than the stock unit. Anyone have some advice on how to get it in? I removed the cruise control servo, moved the hard coolant line and the dipstick. Any thoughts?

im assuming its the 4-1 since your having trouble... the 4-2-1 is a two-piece so its easy to get down in there.

ive never had an issue with my rk sport 4-1, just slid it down in there. cant remember if it was a PITA or not though, dont recall it being one though so it couldn't have been. you just need to find the right angle and it should go down in there.

if your feeling good you can let the upper mount loose a tad and shift the engine some...

Are you scared of the changes coming? The answer is on the inside.

Actually I have the 4-2-1. I can slide the lower half in no problem. It's the upper half that's a PITA. I'll try loosening the upper mount and see if that helps any.

I'll take a pic, if that doesn't matter.

boo-yow, loosened the top mount a bit, it slid the motor forward just a hair. Took the factory strut tower bar off and beat the two bolts that the crusie control servo mount to. Then the header slid in. Some of the nuts are a major pain to get to. I had to use an open end wrench on them, 1/4 turn at a time. I'll take pics when I'm done.
