Ok so I got a replacement tube from K&N. Installed it before easy. Well except this time this is supposed to go on the intake.
Instead of sliding right on like the old one, this one kinda ripped.
So my question is, I forgot what that sensor is for and is it important to have or can I leave it off for a bit and replace it a little later like tomorrow? Thanks.
i think thats the vac line for the fuel reg isnt it?
so yeah, kinda important.

K&N instructions says its the Vent Hose? Any more help?
you should be alright for a little light driving around shouldnt do anything but knock your fuel to air ratio off a little.

Thanks. Still trying to figure out exactly what it is and what it does so i can replace it asap. I keep getting mixed answers from diff people.
I'd put a little tape around the crack, put it on and lightly tighten a hose clamp around it for the time being. better than nothin.

Take some electrical tape maybe a foot or so. Heat it over your stove or something so its warm/hot but not burning. It will stretch like crazy. Wrap it around the rubber after it is installed as tight as you can. Make sure you wrap it everywhere the crack is and then some. Trust me it won't go anywhere.
It is the vacum line for the fule pressure regulater,I had the same thing happen,I just pulled off the rubber boot stuck the plastic line in to the tube and duct taped it in there,,Went to GM and got a new plastic hose with both ends on it...You can only order the whole thing from GM,its like 10 bucks..If you want I can get you the part number tommorow..Did K&N Send you the new model which has the better bracket..
yes it's the new style intake with the different bracket. so I went to autozone and got a different type of end connector for it. still some space for it to pop out so I'm going to use dome automotive silicon sealer to seal and hold it. thanks to everyone for the help.
On the AEM intake, the fuel line hose gets a breather added to the nipple on the fuel pressure regulator and does not attach to the intake tube.
I asked a couple mechanics, and a few members here about this.
The pressure is regulated on the other lines, not the one attaching to the intake tube.
This vaccuum line going to the intake is so the fuel pressure regulator breathes in ambient air here and there when it needs to.
In other words, it is on the intake so it gets fresh clean air.
If the nipple had no line on it, it could get blocked by debris and fail to function correctly.
At least on the 03-05 motor it is this way.

its crazy. my old style one broke back in 2005. i was browsing the k&n site to see how much a new one was going to cost me because i wanted to do things to my car again. i saw something about a 1 million mile warranty on the webpage. so i decided to take a chance and email them. got a response saying he was sending me a new tube with bracket. so saved me alot of money. so waitin on this stuff to dry now says 10 hours. i prob could do as the above poster said and get the little filter thing and plug the hole up.
