Haha...this feller must have done a lot of searching

Yeah I'm running this kit as well...

Hey Chris, is your m45 the fastest on J-body? I found an older post that had official m45 times and saw you were at the top. Wondering if anyone else is running quicker and just hasn't added their name to the list?

Cool...thats a wicked time for stock...I'd love to get a 14.0 this year...aiming for low 13s this fall, got a little work to go yet.

I got my kit from pace performance and I live in canada. You can still run an underdrive pulley but you may need a differerent sized belt than what comes with the s/c. Just get a stock light weight pulley. I could be getting this mixed up but I think the underdrive pulley is bigger and therefore will result in less boost (correct me if I'm wrong). Stay with stock pulley or get a light one that is stock size. And if you look around on j-body there is a lot of info on the m45 for the LD9. Just takes some time to find everything. I've spent hours on this site getting info, there is a lot of good stuff on here.

ok yeh thanks so far, ive always wanted to get some forced induction i just wasnt sure if I wanted to turbo or supercharge it, but the price of the supercharger from pace isnt bad at all, and Im pretty sure that Im going to pick it up..I will need some help from you guys tho, but thats why we have the org right.lol..thanks so far guys...is there anything else I need for that kit? or is that exactly everything I need..and what would I be looking at price wise for the gm s/c reflash? and can i get it at any gm dealer?
Re: supercharger kit..
Saturday, January 17, 2009 3:20 PM
Yeah, any dealership can do it...people pay from 50-100 from what I have gathered. I paid 75. This kit has been really reliable, got 15,000kms on it and have not had one problem. The kit comes with everything you need. Unless you plan on doing other upgrades.

yeh thats kinda why i was leaning toward a supercharger instead of a turbo, thanks man 4 everything...one last question though is it safe/smart to put the charger on and drive it before i get it flashed? like if i would drive it to the shop?

its fine, just baby it, no more then 15% load.

Or zip tie the bypass valve.

Yeah its ok just as taetsch said. I drove mine to a shop which was 15kms away, just don't go into boost cause the car does not know what to do and then stalls. They tried reving the car up to see what will happen, and as soon as it hits boost the car shut off. Not sure if thats for the same for every LD9 but thats what happened to mine. Then when you get it flashed, drive it like you stole it , well thats what I did

No, thats because you but a 2 bar map on a ECM that thought it was a 1.

the MAP should not be changed over until it gets flashed.

There are a couple former J-BOM guys that are the fastest i've ever heard of with the M45, but they both had a little N2O assistance. Brett Cohagen (BC02SCZ24) ran 13.56@107.82mph and Andy Rothermel (lowpro) ran 13.22 @ 110.32, both motors were internally stock. Brett's car may have been faster because he was hitting the speed limiter (108) before the end of the track, Andy's car had a VSS switch.

Wicked...maybe my goal to get into the 12's with the m45 isn't completely unattainable then. Gonna start doing more researching about my rebuild for the fall.

op, u said pittsburgh?

On a note to one of your questions, if you underdrive the crank, you will need to run a smaller pulley to get back to the boost level that the stock crank would put out.

Re: supercharger kit..
Sunday, January 18, 2009 2:52 PM
ok thanks about the underdrive answers, i realize it would be pointless to install the underdrive pulley now that im buying the supercharger kit..I read in one sticky about the pre 00 cars needed to change the injectors, and I plan to change mine eventually but would it be alright if i ran stock inhectors for maybe like a month or two? and I would probably, not 100% sure yet, put a intercooler on when i changed injectors..So i guess my question would be do I have to install a intercooler? I did research and found that its not necessary around like 6lbs of boost, but would provide more power...
Re: supercharger kit..
Sunday, January 18, 2009 3:00 PM
You can't put an intercooler on the m45! the s/c and manifold are all one piece. And the kit comes with new injections (310cc). They are ok if you don't plan on doing much more for mods but they will be fine with just the s/c. You have a 2001 LD9? If so then you don't need to look into the pre 2000. There was another guy asking about a 98 LD9 and that is different cause the kit is for a 2000-2002 LD9. The only way to cool this s/c is to get alcohol injection. Do some searching on alcohol injection (aka meth, alky).
