After I have run my car for about 5 mins and shut it off, I can smell HOT COOLANT. I check hose and cant see anything wet. My level is OK, it may be going down but nothing dramatic. The fan is on when I shut the car is off, but not on when running and at normal temp. It does get about 5-10 degrees hotter in traffic (and it is only 70-80 outside). Oil cap shows no water drops, dipstick oil looks good. No steam when I turn heater on, and no smell

I've had this happen on many vehicles with seeping freeze plugs, gasket leaks or imminent heater core failure. It only takes a few drops on a hot engine block to vaporize and create the smell. Unless it's leaking enough to leave a trace, you might go a long time and not spot the problem. - Good luck.
