i was reading about the G6s and i seen they had this has anyone tried this with the Ld9?

I would not waste my time with that system. It is very problematic.
oic thanks i knew nothing about it lol

I did a lot of reading about electric power steering. From what I have read if you find an early 90's toyota mr2 in the junkyard you can take the electric power steering from it and adapt it to almost any vehicle. You would need the pump, steering sensor, and steering computer. Unfortunately I lost the link with the page explaining how to do it. Also I have yet to come across a toyota mr2 in the junkyard.
that and IMO it doesnt feel right, neither does that stupid effing electric throtle cable BS.
i hate all that crap.
Needing 2.3 oil pump stuff? PM me...
My only real complaints about my moms SS S/C have t do with the electronic control crap and the way to big wheels/to low profile tire.
Yeah I dont like the electric throttle cable at all. I was interested in the electric power steering for horsepower robbing purposes. The Cobalt power steering sucks. the mr2 version still turns an actual power steering pump if i read right and the sensor and computer tell the motor to spin faster to pump harder so that the pump isnt constantly causing a load on the power system. i just gave up on the idea since i cant offord to do it.
i say get a manual rack to work instead.

You don't need the computer or steering sensor off ther mr2. Search for my post a few month back. all you need is the electric pump. Now if you want it to be speed variable you have to have the computer and hook it up to you vss. I'm going with the mr2 pump after i go turbo. The only thing is the amount of juice it would use. But the only time it would use the most is when you have the rack in a full lock position.
hmmm freeing up mechanical horse power and adding an electrical load, causing more load on the alternator, causing a lose in horsepower... seems right.
honestly, there no point. if anything its worse because you loose alot of the feel of the road now since there is no feed back from the road to the steering wheel. handling will feel weird and it will feel like it got worse.
z yaa is right, best to swap to a manual rack. or, swap to a 2.3L pulley pump system. when you want to free up some power, take the power steering belt off.

cobalt electric steering is a servo that helps you to turn the steering wheel. There is no hydraulic-assist.. its literally a motor hooked up to the steering column that senses which way you want to steer and helps you by turning in the same direction.
without the sensors and ecu control there's no way to implement it on another vehicle.
an electro-hydraulic system like the mr2 power steering could be adapted a lot more easily.
I wonder how many more times this is going to be brought up.. getting almost as common as "can I 2.4 eco swap my car?"

I would think it would give a lot less problems too. Electric forklifts have power steering and all it usually is is a small motor that drives a pump for the hydraulics. And they tend to have a fairly long service life.
Though, if going this route.... you may want to look into where to get and how much it costs for motor brushes (if they even have them, probably do). It's not good to let them run all the way down to the nub.
